Amara and Sienna

Amara and Sienna were both referred to the wayss Nicholson Project addressing technology-facilitated abuse.

Amara reported experiencing multiple forms of abuse and violence by her ex-partner, Lucas, towards her and her children. She described instances of physical, sexual and technological abuse as well as coercive control and stalking behaviours. Amara grew concerned Lucas had hacked her social media accounts and may have access to her son Charlie’s phone.

After meeting online, Sienna and John began a relationship and continued to speak online, meeting once in person. John then began stalking, persistently calling and texting Sienna, threatening to self-harm if she didn’t come to speak with him. In one incident, John send Sienna more than 80 text messages and called her every 20 minutes in a 24-hour period, as well as trying to contact her via social media.

The Protective Group remotely assessed their devices to change passwords and check for spyware.

Sienna describes the referral as “really good,” and reported feeling more confident in managing her safety using technology. A wayss family violence case worker assisted with her recovery and ongoing safety planning.

Amara and her children have since received assistance from Wayss to support their ongoing safety and recovery from family violence.
